Interns and officials attended a reception to mark the end of the project for 2008. Seated are Nick Calio (left), Citigroup's executive vice president for Global Government Affairs, and Walter Isaacson (right), Aspen Institute president and CEO. They are surrounded by: interns from the 2008 class of Citi Microenterprise Researchers; Elaine Edgcomb (10th from right), director of FIELD; and Yma Gordon (4th from right), Citi vice president/director of Partnership and Program Development for North American Community Programs.
The 2008 Citi Aspen Interns Program was a 12-week internship program that exposed graduate students to the microenterprise development field in the U.S., and assisted microenterprise development practitioners in collecting high-quality client outcomes data. Twenty microenterprise programs received awards to select an intern to work under their supervision. Prior to beginning the 12-week internship program, The Aspen Institute brought all of the interns together in Washington D.C. for training and orientation, and again at the end of the project to share their findings and experiences.

2007 Alumni

In 2007, twenty-five domestic microenterprise organizations received funding through the Citi Aspen Interns Program to hire graduate students for a 12-week summer internship program. The 12-week program focused on providing interns with the skills necessary to collect high-quality client outcomes data for their respective microenterprise programs. The Researchers Program introduced young talent to the field of microenterprise development, and hopefully stimulated continued interest in the field as possible career paths.
