About the Project
The Microfinance Impact Collaborative is a FIELD project to inform, strengthen, and accelerate the efforts of microenterprise finance organizations that are committed to significantly increasing the impact of their work. The Microfinance Impact Collaborative provides participating organizations with a venue and mechanism for collective learning and action.
The Microfinance Impact Collaborative is comprised of several leading microlenders from across the United States, including: Accion Chicago, Accion East, Accion New Mexico • Arizona • Colorado • Nevada • Texas, Intersect Fund, Justine PETERSEN, and Opportunity Fund.
Members of the Microfinance Impact Collaborative first convened in 2015 to discuss and share innovations and challenges related to growing their microenterprise finance work. They focused on topics including underwriting, nonbank alternative lenders, capitalization, and lending technologies. The members of the Microfinance Impact Collaborative again gathered in 2016, focusing on the changing market context, the role of technology, and organizational strategies to drive innovation and growth. The Microfinance Impact Collaborative convenings have provided time for reflection, engagement, and conversation, strengthening the work of each participating organization and identifying ways to increase the impact of the microenterprise field.
The 2016 activities of the Microfinance Impact Collaborative are funded by the Capital One Foundation and McGraw Hill Financial Inc.
